A Clue Hidden In Plain Sight


Looking closer at the photo, Sarah noticed something tiny on the mother’s dress.
A brooch.
Inside the oval design were two engraved letters.
Possibly M and H.
It wasn’t much — but it was a starting point.
Sarah began searching historical records from Lawrence, Massachusetts.
City directories revealed a photographer named James Whitmore, who operated a studio on Essex Street around 1901.
But the real discovery came when Sarah searched death records.
